Poly-bag to Cigarette : Governments are doing great job.

If you caught possessing poly bag you will be fined Rs. 500/- in Uttar Pradesh and if you found selling cigarette below 18 year old you will be find Rs. 200/- Under Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Act, 2003. (here in after TPA).

Tobacco is curse for younger population, Because realise or not you are an asset for nation and to prove yourself as an asset you need to be fit physically and mentally. While consuming cigarette like Cheetos and Kurkure you can never remain fit physically or mentally.

How does it impacts our body?

The younger you begin to smoke the harder to quit. If a young man starts in adolescence to smoke. While his body is still responding the growth and evolution stimulus then the possible result is that sooner cigarette is going to be your need like food and water. You will find your self as unable to think and sleep without it. That's why it becomes difficult to quit smoking. And if you will quit abruptly you are risking your life because your body needs it and in absence of this it will respond unpredictably. In my acquaintance there were few smokers while they were smoking they appeared health and as they quit it abruptly they died of cancer. This doesn't mean that if you smoke so keep on smoking you should quit with the help of rehabilitation center.

How the economy of tobacco works?

Governments relies on TAX. Tobacco companies provide them tax in large sum since every country keep taxes high for such sinister sectors of economy. Therefore government usually finds themselves under dilemma whether to stop tobacco or promote tobacco.

Since we live in a democratic country, therefore no government could afford to promote tobacco. Government tries to find a middle path and when these middle path get legislated then results as Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Act, 2003. Which imposes a very meager amount as fine. Which will not even deter the offenders. This shows the political will.

Prize of quitting

This Image timeline shows what we will get as a prize if we quit smoking.

So in case of comparison of fine on Poly-Bag and Cigarette. Poly-Bag held to be most dangerous.

But wait..

India has changed and we do not live in 2003.

Recently Parliament has passed Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015. Which imposed a fine of Rs. 1,00,000.00 or imprisonment up to Seven Years if any seller found to be selling cigarette to below 18 year old. So please make awareness about it and save many lives.

Another landmark action take by Kerala Government which decided to ban the liquor sale in 10 year by shutting 10% of outlets every year. Bihar Government has also announced that it will ban the sale of liquor by April 1,2016. Lets see what happens. But Kerala Model is really working.

At last I wish to making a humble request.

"Please sir and ma'am, quit smoking and liquor it is not just costing your health but a large chunk of money which Government is spending in treating cancer and liver transplants. With that money we can make India proud by removing poverty and hunger. Please quit it."
