Disclaimer : Complete analysis is performed before the
release of Windows 10 and valid up to Windows 7. Windows 10 is not included
because water is quite muddy to put forth an analysis and comparison.
- Far Cry, Crisis, Call of Duty requires large system (in terms of processing and Graphical Processing). All these games don't run on Linux so no Game Lover, Enthusiast buys Linux Based system.
- Windows Subsequent versions specifically Windows Vista peaked the Recommended Hardware requirement. Most of the PC in the world have higher requirement because of Games, Graphics Intensive Works, Speculative Motives (Before windows Vista hit in the market, people were happy with 1Ghz Processor along 128MB RAM, but afterwards everyone scared and buys highest possible configuratin within the available budget. I also did, I did not want to spend 40,000/- on this purchase and 50,000/- after 2/3 years again. (40,000+50,000=90,000 with in the span of 3 years, rather 66,000/- for 10 years. Which one is cheaper decide on your own.)
- For Servers, Linux has edge over windows for many reasons. First, Open so no need to build from scratch just update available one. Companies saves time and money through this. They don't need to pay for license and no lawsuit in case of copying any process or code. Second, Highly customizable environment allows to modify any server app as per specific need, you can turn of the features which you don’t use and allocate the resource engaged to the process you require. I dare you to try this in IIS Servers. Linux is best for servers Due to its CUSTOMIZABILITY and OPEN SOURCE nature (sorry for Yelling but I can't stop :D).
- GUI, the most dashing feature which brought computers in the hand of masses. I think widespread use of computer is mainly because of its GUI otherwise computer would have remained in the labs for scientific and defense purposes anyways, GUI is for normal users and their number is largest, they decide the success and failure of project and product whole computer developer community is for serving them. GUI is also essential because, everyone has so much to remember in life (Gf's Birthday, First Kiss day, First MAKE out day, Weekly anniversary….. So so long list than just commands. GUI in Linux is over the top feature, provided through a package, while windows is completely different although core of Windows CLI and GUI is same but GUI of windows is intensively developed by Microsoft. They poured money, machine, man, and MIGHT (Read Netscape Navigator's story to understand why I used MIGHT).
Linux Come with (Gnome, MATE, KDE) so many desktop
environment so much confusion. Using one and switching to another is like
getting birth on Earth spending 20 years here and then Migrate to Mars then
what happened Caption John Cartor in movie happens the same to us because brain
works in images. It doesn't feel comfortable when environment changes. KDE is
customizable (too much). This is really awesome Desktop Environment entire
environment is built by widgets. No full fledge GUI countering Linux CLI is available.

Choose your OS as per your need. Don’t think that Linux is
best or Windows is great. It completely depends
what you need. If you want to eat chocolate then windows is like Dairy
Milk Silk ready to eat and Linux is like company gave you Packet of Co-Co and
said produce you own Silky Chocolate as per your own taste requirement.
My Verdict : If you are not a
hardcore used then go for windows. Non hardcore already knows what to do ;)
Constructive Criticism… Most Welcome !
very informative. although I don't know much about any of these o.s. But when it comes to chose, your description would guide me a lot
